Only the extreme collectors please

We all know about Anchor Bay's uncut version of NYR, right? It claims it's totally uncut, unyielding. Nothing left out. I own that copy and know there is atleast 1 scene missing from that version. Sadly....

Back in 1983 or so my brother and I, while living in Germany, were watched by a German babysitter and her Italian boyfriend. Often they would rent movies on tape(German or German dubbed, in this case German dubbed over Italian/English). I remember distinctly(even though I was 8 or 9) seeing some of this movie when they were not either telling me to turn away or holding a reddish towel infront of my face(brother was 1 or 2 so he did not need any supervision since all that went right over his head anyway). I remember this following scene and, to this day, having searched whenever I got a chance, can NOT find a version anywhere with this scene included!! Any help would be apppreciated beyond measure!

(The scene where the girl is tied to the bed while the killer cuts her eye, nipple and....)

Ok so he is cutting away. And I think it was after he finished with the eye and the breast he then proceeds to cut here crotch area. The reason I remember this so distinctly is they had an extreme close up shot of her as he runs the blade across her black pubic hair. I remember it looked wet so it could have easily just been some bush on some doll or what not but I remember this as clear as getting up this morning. Here's another piece of evidence this scene has to exist. On either the cover art or a poster or some marketing material there is a shot of her on the bed with her eye damaged and her breast bloodied from a standing point of view. Her crotch is all bloodied up too. YET there is NO scene in our lovely Anchor Bay "uncut" (bs) version! I want that scene back even if I have to buy a damn German dubbed VHS. If anyone can help me on just information about this I would really appreciate it. It's all about finding that what so many say does not exist....yet I know it does from first hand experience.

Wow. I too have heard of this. I'll check back here to see if anyone has additional information. As if T.N.Y.R. wasn't brutal enough...! This i must see. ^_^

I have been checking back here off and on and it seems no one has much to add to this topic. Makes me wonder. Funny enough as I checked back this time I noticed this on the NYR imdb info page:

Trivia: Kitty's death by razor blade was originally longer and more gruesomer. Why the extra violence was cut is unsure, but images found on the Japanese DVD cover confirm that more gore was filmed.

AGREED. BUT....not only does Japan have hints toward such a conclusion.

There is footage out there including shots of her vagina getting sliced. I know this. I don't need such scenes for self-gratification - I just want the most uncut versions in my horror collection.

I would like to keep this thread focused purely on pertinent information on locating this "missing" footage.

Thanks.

ive got a vcd rip i bought a couple of years ago and the scene you mention is there and completly intact and its english too

I am not wanting to collect vcd but I would be willing to buy a copy from you if it's cheap enough just to see if it strikes me as familiar. What might be even more intriguing is to find the source where that rip comes from. I would then be willing to shell out more cash for such a copy.

The Dutch version by Italian Shock (released by Extreme) seems completely uncut, unfortunately the movie is dubbed to English and there is no possibility to see the Italian dub on the DVD. I own it, it doesn't have a lot of extra's except liner notes and trailers, but could be worth buying if you don't mind seeing the English version. It's for sale for 5€ in Holland and Belgium in your average Free Record Shop, so it can't be too hard to track it if you ever come this way.

I appreciate your take on things. I watched the VHS version in Germany. They did not have special features with stills and the like. Trust me. As a previous poster has mentioned, there are stills of this shot only cover art. I saw this movie one time way back and not again. I was not looking for any shots as I was not collecting. The movie included that scene. I might find it on an old German tape or maybe some of the places other posters have mentioned thus far.

Thanks for your input.

So what about the posts regarding the uncut VCD? Did that turn out to be bogus information?

I have never gone hunting for it. I do not want vcd. I have been trying to build my DVD library and have not really focused whole-heartedly on this fully uncut movie. If anyone else has more on this truly uncut film please post it here.

Thanks.

Actually the Anchor Bay release misses 2 scenes!

Anchor Bay Entertainment claims that it is the ‘Uncut Widescreen Version’.
Which it aint! Nevertheless the missing scenes in this version aren't of any importance. If you want the full uncut release you need to go for the Euro-DVD release by "Italian Shock" (89min PAl), very strange here though and i'm giving you the info, there's also since a year or two an Australian release. Remember this movie was banned in Australia for more as 20 years. But they changed their minds and they released the Full Uncut Widescreen edition with a running time of 93min PAL. Actually if you have to choose between the Anchor bay or the Australian release by Stomp Entertainment, i would recommend to go for the Aussie one. Although i didn't a compare-view between the Euro and Aussie version i can't see why they're different in running time. Maybe i will have to give that a go in the next few...

I own two versions of the film, and they all seem completely uncut (or so they claim to be). One is a VHS release (came out back in the late 90's in Ireland -- "for sale in the Republic of Ireland only", the box reads), released by Parc Video, on their Italian sublabel Costra Nostra. The other one is the Dutch dvd-release, already mentioned in this thread.

On a little sidenote:

-- Don't rely too heavily on presumable stills taken from the movie, as they are often photographs taken on the set for promotional purposes. They may look like stills from the movie, but are often just photo's taken from a more or less the same (or even different) angle. Sometimes even an image of material that didn't make the final, original cut of the movie, makes it as promo-material (very deceiving, I might add). So looking for uncut footage based on promo pics, might in some rare cases be a quest without an end, since that particular shot was actually never in the movie.

-- concerning runningtimes (and you'll probably know this), a lot of them displayed on the cover of the dvd or video, are inaccurate. As sometimes they just list the theatrical running time, which is due to its frame/sec rate always a few minutes longer than the video version (leaving both versions perfectly the same and uncut). Same goes for PAL & NTSC versions (which you undoubtedly know too). So those two versions Dario mentioned (89 mins & 93 mins) are probably the same and uncut too.

I have the Shameless Entertainment version released here in the UK.. Can anyone tell me what scenes are missing from it, please? I too am interested in finding uncut versions of films. Why have half when you can have it all? ;)

34 or so seconds (says on the back of the box) to the razor blade sequence. Having not seen the Shameless release I assume the nipple splitting (pretty obvious this is the cut as it's also missing from the trailer) and surrounding footage was cut. The cuts are longer than the Vipco video release so I assume they tidied the cuts up to make them less obvious than they were before.
