"This is miles beyond just about anything else I've seen in horror in terms of misogyny. This is BLATANT misogyny. And I have an extremely hard time seeing the viewers who enjoy this film as sane, rational, healthy people."
It depends on how you look at things. I for one love this film *BECAUSE* it's so extreme and uncompromising. It's plain to see that Fulci had serious issues with women, and it's obvious he used T.N.Y.R. as a way of venting his anger. The least you can give this movie is that it's very sincere on many levels. The average stupid 'horror fan' may only appreciate this film because of the bloodshed, but I'm sure anyone with analytical tendencies can read into it further on a broader level. The way i see it, Fulci - aware of it or not - crafted a searing reflection of the human condition with this movie. Once you get past the awkward dubbing/acting/plot/etc., T.N.Y.R. turns into a seriously dark affair. It's damn apocalyptic.
