I was an extra on this movie! Weeeee

Part of this was filmed at Richland College in Dallas, Texas. They took volunteers from the extras who where willing to cut their hair to be "homelanders." The day I was on the set they were filming the kidnaping by the de-programmers. Karen Allen gave such an emotional performance in that scene one time but something went wrong with the camera and they had to film it again. When they announced that they didn't get the scene, everybody let out an "awwww" because she had done sooooo good.
Anyway that was my 2 seconds of stardom.

Oh my GOD! Not only was I an extra as well, but I was picked out of the crowd by Jamie Freytag (Assistant Director) to be the person to whom Karen Allen ran to ask for help. I think we shot that scene about 20 times. She was amazing.

Even more amazing to me was the fact that I had seen the original Raiders of the Lost Ark the night before filming that scene. Prior to that night, I had never seen Karen Allen before. In a 24 hour period, I went from seeing her face for the first time on a 20' screen, to having her run to me for help 20 times in an incredibly convincing manner.

The whole situation was surreal.

If memory serves me though, it was actually shot at El Centro College. Has the name been changed?

The filming locations list Mesquite as the scene of the compound, which is where Richland is. El Centro is in downtown Dallas. I lived within 10 minutes of Richland, and I had no idea a movie was filmed there!
