Why is Split Image not on DVD?

Split Image is actually a very good movie. But it's out of print in VHS, never shown on TV, and never been released on DVD. Anyone know why?

Not a clue. Considering the fine cast it really is quite silly to not have released this on DVD.

It's silly that this movie didn't do good in the first place! I thought James Woods gave the performance of his career in this one and the underrated Brian Dennehey was also excellent.

I saw this movie after midnight one night in the early 1980s. I have never forgotten James Woods' performance (his foul mouth was very impressive for a then 13 year-old) but never remembered the title of this flick until I checked on here. It is great to see that other people have seen and remembered this movie fondly! It is also nice to know the title of this again but I would really love to see it once more which seems to be a tall order unfortunately.

I agree--this is another great early '80s movie that can't find a distributor or (more likely) is stuck in some dispute over ownership. I can't remember which studio released it in 1982, but more than likely it was MGM or UA.

The entire cast was excellent in this film and I'd love to see it again.

The film's owned by Universal, as successor-in-interest to Polygram Pictures, who made the movie (Orion released it originally.)

My mom and aunt were both extras in this film.
It was filmed close to my house!
They were Brain washed youth cult members!
Type Cast!!! LOL
I thought it actually aired on TV just a few months ago though I am not sure!
I am looking for a copy (Preferrably DVD)
Please post if anyone locates one!

It is thoroughly unbelievable that this film is not out on DVD. It is FANTASTIC, especially considering the crap that's being released these days.

The cast is all in TOP form in this one...and it's quite a gripping film. I saw it late night in the mid-90's on Los Angeles television and I was GLUED to the screen.

WHOMEVER owns the rights to this needs to get the ball rolling on a DVD Release, like NOW! ;)

You can go to the TCM site and vote for it to be released on DVD. You can also request that TCM play it, but voting for DVD release is quicker.
