Need help with title of similar movie

There was a movie around the same time (I think) that was about a little girl who was dying. All I remember about it was she told her parents "Your Song" by Elton John should have been written about her. Also at the very end of the movie, the mom rushed to the market to get something for her dying daughter, who was literally minutes away from death, and the Mom had a breakdown at the cash register because the clerk was taking too long with the person in front of the line.The clerk of course knew nothing of the dilema the woman was in or why she was in such a rush. She knew her daughter only had a short time left and wanted to get the item from the market back to her in time. I forget what the thing was, it may have been an ice cream or something to ease the pain. Sorry this is so vague, but that's why I want to know what the movie is, so I can rent it. It was heartbreaking!
