I COMPLETELY agree! One of my top favorite movies of all time. I really don't see how anyone can watch this movie and not shed at least a few tears. And Dudley's music is part of the reason. How more perfect could it get... I'd say it was a perfect 10! Okay, I know it's cheesy, but I just HAD to! I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY wish they would release it on DVD already!!!! I ordered 2 VHS copies on the net, and I sent it to a friend halfway across the country to convert it to DVD for me because I am convinced I would wear the tape out! The quality isn't wonderful, but at least I don't have to worry about that! It needs to be remastered too!
I wasn't born till '86, but I think the '80s produced some great movies. It really is sad that such a wonderful film has been all but forgotten. Dudley did work very hard on it, and it broke his heart when box office stats were not what everyone was hoping for.
One of the things that I really don't understand is why so many people have said that Dudley was mis-cast as Patrick Dalton. His character was a politician, but here's the tricky part: he also had to be caring and thoughtful simutaneously! Who better at making it believable than "Cuddly Dudley," after all?! I think he was the *perfect* person for the role! :-D
