Andrew Stevens plays a good creep

Whenever I think of this movie, I think of that creepy shot of Andrew Stevens emerging from the closet groaning "....Jamie!"
He plays a creepy obsessed guy pretty well.

I absolutely agree! In fact, when I see him in something else, I have hard time picturing him being anything but a creepy stalker (onscreen, that is). I didn't realize that he's Stella Stevens' son! One of his early guest appearances on "Murder, She Wrote" kind of left the ending of the episode open for interpretation as to whether he was dangerous or not - and that stuck with me too.

He's a good-looking guy, though, in kind of an off-beat yet boyish way.

Andrew Stevens was very handsome and did not fit the stereotype of a stalker. But stalkers frequently look very normal.
