When Rocky and Apollo were having their private rematch, what was that padding they were wearing around their waists? What was the point of it? If it was for protection as the match was just for fun, then why weren't they wearing those padded helmets that fighters wear when they spar?

shareThey're athletic supporters. You know, a cup. All heavyweight boxers wear them during bouts with the protection for the lower abdomen. They just usually wear them under baggy boxing trunks. I guess they wanted to wear their tight shorts so they wore them on the outside.
