Anyone wonder why Rocky lied to Mickey? (Spoilers)

In the locker room scene, where Mickey was about to check out. Rocky told him that it was a KO in the second round, but never admits that he lost the match. Mickey replied with, "We did everything right", looks at Rocky's face and takes his last few breaths.

Personally, I don't think it has anything to do with giving Mickey good news to possibly save his life or have him hang on just a little longer, because Mickey refused go to the hospital and was going to die anyway.

The only thing I can think of is that he wanted Mickey to know that he was a good trainer and the last thought that went through his mind before he died was that Rocky was a winner.

Any thoughts on this?

I thought he wanted to spare mick any more stress than he was already feeling and tried to give him good news to lift his spirts n maybe revive him some. Plus..the other reasons make sense too. But he didn't lie...he just didn't tell him it was him that got fking destroyed.

I don't think he had to say who won.....Mickey knew. Remember Mickey said (upon getting the news): "I knew it." He predicted the match himself. (I.e. "He'll kill ya ta death insida 3 rounds!")
