this is my favorite, rocky was trained by the best, the guy that gave him his greatest challenge and the guy who taught him. Rocky had to learn rhythm, he was challenged by this alone. how many boxers were told to swim laps, and it is true that swimming does require using muscles ordinarily used. 2.8% body fat, lower than soccer players.
Mine too!! I think I initially loved it because I was 8 when this came out and Mr T and Hogan made it really interesting. Plus I loved apollo and seeing him work with Rocky was awesome to me.
IV was my favorite. That Russian was a way harder opponent than Lang and the final match was far more epic. It also had a cooler training montage and higher stakes.

Perhaps. It was longer. But thanks to their shorter lengths, the matches in Rocky III are the only ones in the entire series to be shown in their entirety, with no montages. I like that!

The speed of Rocky III's end fight was amazing. I loved the way Rocky ducked all the punches and then just unleashed a barrage on Clubber in the final round. The fight choreography combined with Stallone's incredible fitness just made it look breath-taking. He really went all out for that end fight.
Rocky IV's bout was bigger, had more stunts and even some wrestling moves. It was basically a war in a ring. III's fight was just a little more explosive, though. Both were great.

I feel that the final match in 3 was too brief, Lang tired too quickly and 3 rounds of what is supposed to be a FIFTEEN round fight feels a tad skimpy. I totally get that this should no have gone the full fifteen rounds either but a round is only a few minutes the writers could have had Lang tire in round five or six. Three rounds just felt too anticlimactic.

I think there's a few reasons for that and the main one is that we'd already seen Rocky go the fifteen rounds in the previous two films, so Stallone was shaking things up a bit. Apollo says that Rocky needs to take Clubber down early because he can't last that long against someone that strong, so he trains him to be ultra fast and skilful.
The story of this film is that Rocky's changed his style with the help of Apollo so he's more of a dynamic boxer. To go with that, they've made the end fight match up to that with the blistering speed etc.
I also like how he's ducking punches and making Clubber tired, and using mind games "I ain't breathing heavy" - so this is all new stuff that we never saw before. It's always cool when sequels try new things.

I KNOW they wanted to NOT have it be a very long fight but had it gone to round five or six it still would have been way shorter than fifteen rounds and we could have had a little more action, hell even round FOUR would have been an improvement.
I think another reason Rocky had to totally dominate Lang was that the writers probably had the plot for Rocky 4 already figured out and Drago was so much more powerful than Lang that in order for it to be believable that Rocky could take on Drago he had to really dominate Lang. If Lang went the full 15 rounds then there is no way he could beat Drago.
