Anyone else dig Apollo's custom red Rocky polo shirts in the rematch?
Those are barely ever talked about and very underrated in my opinion. I wonder where Apollo or Tony had those made.

shareThey were lovely, weren't they!
shareThey're pretty cool, but Clubber's blue robe at the end the *beep* Thinking of wearing it on Halloween.
shareIt was the same colors Muhammad Ali wore in his first fight with Joe Frazier, they were supposed to be Apollo's regular colors. The American flag trunks were just a one time thing for the Bicentennial fight.
Always thought red trunks looked cool and wondered why boxers don't wear them more often. Those Lennox Lewis had in his fight with Andrew Golota were epic. Never understood why so many boxers wore white.
"The American flag trunks were just a one time thing for the Bicentennial fight"
Wrong. You couldn't be more wrong. Think about what you are saying.
Why would Apollo give Rocky a pair of novelty trunks and colours that he only wore once? That's makes no sense.
When he hands the trunks to Rocky, Rocky states "I cant wear your colours"
They were Apollo's colours. If the red shorts had been his colours then he would have handed them to Rocky, especially when you consider they were the colours he wore when Rocky beat him to become world champion. Those colours had more significance in that sense.
No, you are wrong. The Stars and Stripes were Apollo's colours.

The Stars and Stripes were Apollo's colours.
Well my guess is that due to the fact that he almost lost the first fight, he wanted to do away with the flash for the second fight. That often plays out in real world title rematches, after the champion gets beat up in the first fight.
If the stars and stripes weren't his main colours then why did he wear them for the fight with Drago all those years later?
I suspect that when Creed first started out his career as a contender he probably wore the solid red trunks.I doubt a contender would get away with wearing the stars and stripes from the start of his career. Fighters often switch once they become a champion. Tyson wore white and sometimes blue trunks before he beat Trevor Berbick to become world champion. From that fight on he always wore the solid black trunks.
Once Creed became the champion he switched to something that best represented his personality and style. He switched to the stars and stripes.
When he fought Drago it wasn't a title fight, but he saw it as "us against them" if you remember the dialogue with Rocky, when Rocky said "its just an exhibition" He wanted to look his best against the Russians, so he wore his best against the Russians.
When Apollo was in full swing he wore the stars and stripes, his favourite colours.
"What do ya say there chief? I know, I know, you don't need to thank me"
