Criticism in the movie

Okay so anyone who watched the movie realizes every single moment of it is overflowing with metaphoric criticism of society. Especially the animations (most beautiful segments of the movie IMO).
So what do you think the movie criticizes more than all? In my opinion it mostly criticizes conservatism which oppresses people's freedom of expression and forces them to obey the accepted norms of society. But it also criticizes utopianism, an attempt to correct all the faults of society and create a perfect one, without considering the imperfect human nature.
Other criticisms are about war, materialism and hedonism.

The entire album can be summed up as most importantly criticizing human nature - or rather the selfishness of that nature. Pink isolating himself from his world; dictators, whether they're in the academic system or in government; systems being put into place where people are drafted to fight for their Country and can die within an instant; marital affairs; his managers and doctor making him perform, undermining his actual well-being; kids and adults -whether they are rebelling against oppression or attending concerts- following groupthink.

It was long ago and it was far away and it was so much better than it is today!

The basic theme throughout the film is about control- how it's taken and how it's lost...and how it truly doesn't exist.

My "3" key is broken so I'm putting one here so i can cut & paste with it.

Its Roger Water's MTV therapy session, it pisses on him most of all i think & would be useless if he weren't so masochistically honest about what a f'ked up human being he is. There's some hard truth here, the kind you only come to at a very low point. But because its so harsh & denies the truth of anything except pain its also kind of illuminating of society- mothers/lovers school fascism war - the whole convoluted system that sends people into these suicidal spirals by trying to mold them from day 1. They're not separable and its in that spirit of total negation that someone can really bare to look closely at these things, i think.... paint it black.

You could see Waters going in this direction for Animals but this is way beyond that. Animals at least held out for the possibility of love at the end but here even that's a hollow joke; the only thing that's left is self immolation, going completely into it even if it kills you. Because yeah, control doesn't really exist
