Did you get to see it, outsider? Anyone else?

reply

I didn't see it here but I did travel 400 miles almost exclusively to see it on 70mm at the Prince Charles Cinema in London last weekend. Bit of a pink print (heh) but never have and never will hear it sounding better than that. It was huge. So lucky to experienced it - incredibly rare. Never thought I would...

Very cool, TCS. Was it a packed theater? How was the vibe from the audience?

Due to recent political events and the film's depiction of fascism (not to mention a WALL), the atmosphere was actually quite subdued. I can certainly say it was the least fun I've ever had watching it - even if it was by far the most spectacular. Auditorium was probably about half-full because it was a 12:45 start and the last show of a 5-screening run. Other shows were busier I've heard.

Interesting.

In any case, you're lucky to have seen it again in a cinema. I live in Ontario, Canada, and don't recall it ever screening in the 35 years since its release. I remember Cineplex Cinemas once listed it as a fan favourite to vote for, but something else was chosen.

Cheers 
