How about also Doug Bradley of Nightbreed/Hellraiser fame or Robert Englund as Haggard? Prince Lir can be played by Chris Pine. Maybe Mommy Fortuna can be played by Linda Hunt with Kane Hodder as Ruhk or maybe Tom Savini.
And this wouldn't be a "remake" of this film, it would rather be a new adaptation of the book.

Ben Barnes would be a perfect Prince Liz as would Johnathan Rhys Myers.
As much as I love Emma Watson- no. But another Harry Potter cast member should play Amalthea and that is Clemency Posey. You have to admit she looks just like the cartoon drawing and has a rather fantastical appearance.
I have no doubt that Johnny Depp would leap at the chance to be in this movie but I'd rather he not. I'd say Adrian Brody is kind of an obvious choice for him but I also wouldn't mind seeing Jonathan Rhys Myers play a hand in it.
Amy Adams is way too young to play Molly Grue and Cate Blanchett way too glamours. I'd go for Julia Andrews- Her look in Secret in Their Eyes is pretty spot on for Molly
King Haggard should only be played by Christopher Lee--- Alas Malcom McDowel perhaps or Hugh Laurie
Helen Bonham-Carter would jump at the spot of Mommy Fortuna but I think she wouldn't work. I'd be fine with Dame Judi Dench or Dame Dianna Rigg would also be amazing.

I think Ben Barnes and Richard Madden are both dreamy but not awkward like Prince Lir was. I think Eddie Redmayne or Jamie Bell would work well for the part or (I hate myself) Robert Pattinson.
I would love to see this done! They really need to get back on the radar of Hollywood!

I chose Emma because of her voice, and with blond hair, she'd have it. But I would accept Evanna Lynch. Clemency Posey is to old in my opinion.
Amy Adams is 41 and the book does not say Molly was old, just careworn. Molly said to the Unicorn "Where you 20 years ago? 10 Years ago?" Which would indicate she's still moderately young.
I could back up Malcom McDowel for king Haggard.
