Anyone wanna see Amalthea and Lir have sex?
That's an important question cause I am betting that who ever gets rights to the movie will add that along with a happy ending: one with the unicorn transforms back to a human and is back with Lir.

As far as "sexing up" the story goes, quite a few movies I've seen recently had romance without sex and (checks ratings) the new Bridget Jones in September was the last one in which the main characters had sex with each other. If anything, I've noticed a drop off in sex in a lot of films of late. If the new Jack Reacher had been made in the 80s, the 2 leads would have had that neon lit sex scene for sure. 2016 sees a bit of flirting and respect for each other's skills.
If PSB still has input (who knows, he's not getting any younger and there's all the Conlan Press shenanigans) I can't see him allowing them to add extraneous titillation.
