Why are there so many Jews in this movie?

I love it; I’m all for it. Where I grew up in the U.S., there were many Jews and in fact most of my high school friends were Jews.

But these sort of “All American Teen Comedies,” for better or worse, don’t usually have such an obvious Jewish representation. (Do they?) So, it feels “off”. (Again, that doesn’t mean a bad thing -- just an observation.)

It wasn’t even made in New York…it was made in California, where I now live, and where I’ve noticed that most people don’t know from Jews. (except in certain enclaves, of course).

The director was Israeli and also directed the original Israeli version of this film, The Lemon Popsicle so I'm guessing some of the actors already had connections with him. One of my friends pointed out to me that the music played during the scene with the promiscuous Latina lady was also Israeli.

Jews run Hollywood.

How can you tell who's a Jew??

reply

They run the world

If its a Golan-Globus or Cannon production it will be packed with Jews.

It takes place in the East San Fernando Valley (where I currently live) and there is a huge Jewish population here. Especially Encino and Studio City. There are a TON of temples in this area. I'm a minority as a Catholic!

reply

Maybe because the director is Jewish and from Israel

All the Jews were acting like Italians. If the movie was based on an all black cast, who would want to see it?

Who were the Jews?

I would! Eddie Murphy would have been young enough at the time. Richard Pryor would have been 41 so he could be cast as a teacher. Martin Lawrence was 17 so they could fit him right in. That would have made the movie even better! I wonder how Murphy or Martin Lawrence would have reacted in the final scene.

To cut long story short - this is not american movie. It is israeli movie, made by israelis. It is a 'take' on 'american life' thru the eyes of uber jews - Golan and Globus. Watch Electric Boogaloo the documentary to gain some perspective.
