Did anyone think this movie was almost parallel to Fasttimes at Ridgemont High? Which one came out first? They dealt with the same kind of topics (to first-time sex, abortion, good guy/bad guy, etc.). But with The Last American Virgin, it does have the realistic ending where as Fasttimes has the happy ending. Just seemed to me one was a rip off of the other just with a different ending.
FAST TIMES released in US about a little over a month later. Also, LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN is a remake of the 1978 Israel film, which apparently had the same ending and abortion subplot. I haven't seen the original film though.
Lemon Popsicle was the name of this movie. Its on YOUTUBE. Watched just the ending and it was the same, except the karen character in LP does show something that Karen in LAV did not.
As for Virgin vs Fastimes, I have NEVER seen fastimes. Shocking, not a huge fan of Sean Penns comedy. Was great in BAD BOYS and dramatic roles but this.....I have tried to watch this on tv at times, gave up after five minutes.

What? Penn was hilarious in Fast Times. You should have kept watching, the funniest parts are in the middle of the movie with his scenes with Ray Walston.
I've seen "fast times" a lot more than "last american virgin" "last american virgin" is a lot funnier, imo. but such a sad ending. but the networks hardly show it anymore. I'll go with "the last american virgin" being the better movie.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ jealousy will get you NOWHERE!
Fast Times at Ridgemont High is on my list of all-time favourite films. But after catching this underrated classic on cable late one night, it left a lasting impression. Not so much at first with the obvious comparisons made to it's more popular counterpart. But it stayed with me for a long time after.
Realistic and funny with arguably the best soundtrack ever to a teen film. I really didn't think Fast Times... could be topped but somehow, miraculously this movie emerges victorious.
I think at the time I loved both movies pretty much the same, but now I prefer fast times. Mostly because there's parts of TLAV I find really depressing. Especially the ending.
