Should be re-titled "Creepy Gary"

Karen's compelling beauty sends a shockwave through Gary's hormonal passages. As we witness every brief encounter it's evident that these casual nuances have a stronger effect on our protagonist than your usual teenage attraction. Gary is smitten in the most lovesick and emotionally emasculated form. With every casual encounter with Karen, his inability to capture her sentiments and desire, leave him frustrated and desperate.

But this HS comedy isn't shown for prurient vulgarity alone as we see a kid ogling a pretty girl and making cheap gestures and impersonal comments. Gary's mouth hangs agape for nearly a minute for the first two times he sees her. His eyes are blank and fixated on this curt, sweet and beautiful ingenue. He'll stare and gawk for longer intervals than what is normally considered acceptable for mere glances. What's curiously interesting in this story is that we initially see a somewhat hip and well-dressed party boy, even if a little awkward, being reduced to a pathetic drip so systematically that it's painful to watch.

That's why the end comes as a Death-blow to us. He invested too much of his heart to this fantasied romance he concocted in his mind. It's odd and unusual that a teenager would go to such onerous efforts, but he does.

Karen's expression at that final moment is so ambiguous that we don't even know if she is truly evil or just naive as he is. If she had flipped him off and told him to get lost that would have been too obvious.
