It's barely more than a peck, and she's the one who leans down to initiate it. I didn't even notice it as something odd but went to watch the scene after seeing this thread. Some families are just that way, it doesn't have to be anything sinister.
And I didn't feel like he was leering at her when he sees her in the shower. She's the one showering with the door open and he just walks by and sees her. Then looks down. It felt to me like a father who has always seen her as a little girl just being hit with the fact she's a full grown woman now.
You must not be a true horror fan if it shocked you.
Incest is horror and it belongs in the horror genre.

There is something Freudian about the whole plot. It is clear that the father desires his own daughter. The incubus represents his own hidden incestous love. Something complicated like that . Reminds me of Forbidden planet. Otherwise. there was absolutely no need for him seeing her under the shower or this kiss on the mouth. Why did he kill the young lad so easily ?
