I was sad to read about the death of Lane Smith, who played the sadistically condescending Dr. Symington in "Frances". He gave a killer performance and I used to love spotting hin in character roles after that.

I've never seen this particular film of his, but I really loved him as a character actor, too. He had a really great, commanding southern accent.

If you can ever get the chance to see it, please do. Lane Smith just made my skin crawl. He was fantastic.

shareI was saddened to hear of Smith's death as well...I loved him in this film and also found him memorable in MY COUSIN VINNY and THE DISTINGUISHED GENTLEMAN.
