Filming locations
They have stated that this was filmed on the Spanish island of Majorca. My question is what hotel or hotels did they use? It would be great to visit it.

shareI too would like to know the answer. It's my favourite film and would love to visit the Mediterranean locations. I have never been to Majorca, but from what I know of it it appears to have been filmed on the north of the island.

I think they used the beach and the surrounding of the Hotel Formentor. But the building is probably the Hotel Sonnet in Puigpunyent (no beach around!). Both hotels are pretty expensive (300$+) A Ustinov biographer mentioned that they used the house of Hamilton. Ask Ustinov! He should know!

The grounds that have the trail from Camp de Mar to Cala Fornells were bought by Claudia Shiffer, the German Model, to have more privacy. The governement of Andraitx, Camp de Mar, took it back and said that the trail is public domain and that everyone should be able to use it. So now when you walk from Camp de Mar you first look took your left and see the beautiful Miss Schiffer sunbathing and after this foreplay you can see the main attraction: the wonderful bay of Fornells. 2 for the price of one...

Based on the helpful info of js110010, and looking for Cala Fornels on google, I think I found "Monk Bay." Here it is on google maps:

You can see the little rock that was out in the water. Maybe a local could confirm that this is the right place.
Wasn't some of the movie filmed on the Dragonera Island near Sant Elm?
Call Me Jack. Union Jack.
I'm not familiar with Mallorca but I did a bit of research to discover the location of Daphne's hotel and that wonderful bay beneath it.
According to several websites, it is called Cala d'en Monjo (also referred to as Calo d'en Monjo and Calo d'es Monjo) near Peguera. It is not in the north of the island- more like the west. See the location yourself here:

Now for the news that really disappointed me: it would appear that Daphne's hotel has long since been demolished. I found this 50-second video on Youtube which seems to confirm that the original building is no longer there:

This photo also gives quite a good view of the area of headland where Daphne's hotel formerly stood:

The bay looks really beautiful and unspoilt in the video. Some sources say that it is a nudist beach! However, I can't help feeling that the decision to demolish this landmark building was a really huge mistake. There must be many fans of Evil Under the Sun who would now pay an awful lot of money to stay or to dine at Daphne's hotel, with that wonderful view. Moreover, if it is true that it is now a nudist beach, I would have thought that there is a potential for conflict between nude bathers wanting privacy and fans of the film coming to take photos of the bay. It just seems so short-sighted, but at least they haven't ruined the bay completely by building a huge development of luxury flats on the site. That's one good thing.
