Am I the only one who doesn't like this movie?

Extremely overrated. I really have no clue what the fuss is about this movie.

reply

The exceptional creativity the makers had dealing with a extremely small budget.

It's style was also very original, nothing quite like it was made before.

So it deserves the fuss.

Good response.

I wholeheartedly agree! Redsfan001 is correct, The Evil Dead was unprecedented at the time. None had done anything like it before, it was brave and ambitious for it’s time. It’s director, Sam Raimi, had a vision and a passion for this sort of thing and he put it up there on the screen. It’s a classic.

No.

Yes. You are the only person on Planet Earth who dislikes this movie. You are so unique.

Why do people ask this question. Why do you need other people to validate your like or dislike for a movie.

reply

Because everywhere I see is people praising this movie, and I thought it was total garbage, so I don't understand why.

there are men in the world who get off inserting rods into their urethra. enough of them that they produce pornography showing men doing this for guys to jerk off to.

if there are enough men in the world who find that hot to make producing porn with that act worthwhile, then i guarantee you are not the only person who does not like the original evil dead. in the scope of the kinds of opinions people can have yours is not that extreme.

i love it myself. one of the great gonzo indie horror films. i've watched it a billion times and will watch it a billion more.

Have you ever made a movie? Find out how difficult it is, then realize how little these folks were working with. They made a memorable movie with almost no money.

reply

Nah I don't really like it too much either.

From a production standpoint I can appreciate what was accomplished by a group of amateurs with no money and a lot of ideas. From that perspective it's very impressive and has a lot of innovative elements.

Actually watching through the movie though...eh. I like the setup and the last 15 minutes but most of the movie is very tedious and filled with awkward or outright stupid moments. Even the deadites, they make so much noise they go from scary to outright annoying. Not the most entertaining viewing experience, sadly.
