Epically bad. I expected it to be bad, but JFC this is terrible.

I expected this to be bad, but holy cow I didn't expect that. As I approach my late 40s, I figured I'd give this a watch this Halloween season. It's something I should do once in my life.

Like the Geico commercial says, "if you're in a horror movie, you make bad decisions. It's just what you do." But I did not expect it to be so damn glaring. I could list it all here, but it'd take all day. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Then all of the droning on with the unrealistic screaming that just goes on and on. Aaaugh, aaaugh, aaaugh, aaaugh. I just wanted it to stop.

it truly is.. EV 2 was the best thing that ever could have happened to this junk.

It failed as whatever the hell it was trying to be. It wasn't scary, it wasn't competent. EV2 is genius

reply

"it wasn't competent"

You do realize it was made on a really low budget, right? It was pretty impressive for the budget. And much scarier than Evil Dead 2.

reply

1. that doesnt matter. ive seen good low budget films
2. ya and it was horrible and not scary. Rami too everything about it and punched it up to an 11

Budget has nothing to do with this: "if you're in a horror movie, you make bad decisions. It's just what you do." But I did not expect it to be so damn glaring. I could list it all here, but it'd take all day. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

Quick example: When anyone gets scratched, stabbed, clawed, stung, bit etc... the immediate and natural reaction is to jerk away quickly. I've seen it happen hundreds, if not thousands, of times in my life. But when getting stabbed with a pencil (a pencil? it would break before doing any real damage) just stand there, screaming auuuugghhhaaaaauuugghhaaaaughh. Same when he got clawed in the ankle/leg. Don't pull back. Just stand there with the silly exaggerated screaming. So stupid.

This has nothing to do with budget.

Actually I remember seeing a kid get stabbed by another with a pencil in 4th grade and the pencil didn't break, nor did the kid that got stabbed do anything beyond scream like mad. No the kid stabbing didn't wiggle it around, but then I doubt that movement in the movie lasted more than a second it just seemed to last longer when you were watching it.

That doesn't matter the 2013 remake surpassed it.

It wasn't filled with slick cgi fx. That probably bothers a lot of people these days.

cgi fx has nothing to do with this: "if you're in a horror movie, you make bad decisions. It's just what you do." But I did not expect it to be so damn glaring. I could list it all here, but it'd take all day. If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.

This has nothing to do with budget and nothing to do with fx.

I know, it's weird how fiction isn't non-fiction.

reply

How bad is it?

reply

Epically bad.

reply

So not as bad as an epoch?

reply

Your opinion is.

I love the franchise, but yes, the original evil dead had mostly poor acting, bad sound, bad editing. But I guess if one saw it back when it came out, a lot of movies had the same problems so it probably wasn't so noticeable.
