Why did Elliot call his brother penis breath?
Near the beginning of the movie, Elliot yells at his brother, "It was nothing like that penis breath!" Was Elliot basically calling his brother a cocksucker? Did Elliot think his brother was gay? Was he trying to make fun of his brother's homosexuality? First of all, I was absolutely shocked that Spielberg even allowed that kind of gay bashing insult to be said in his PG family friendly movie. I was also surprised to learn that Spielberg's E.T. has a bit of a gay undertone. It's true. The movie even ends with ET's spaceship leaving a gay pride rainbow symbol in the sky.
