My favorite scene, and my favorite line.

I define a "scene" as events and a "line" as something clever that is said.

My favorite SCENE was Elliott releasing the frogs. I hate that stupid schools make children cut up frogs, its a terrible thing and instead children should be taught to be nice to frogs. I love frogs and would never harm one.

My favorite LINE was when one of Elliots friends suggested that the other aliens could rescue E.T. by "beaming him up", an obvious reference to Star Trek and Elliott said in an annoyed tone of voice "This is real life!". I love that line because it is totally asinine for someone to assume that just because beings are much more advanced than we are that they can magically just do anything". that is hogwash. It would be like stone age Neanderthals encountering our world and assuming that we are omnipotent gods that can just do anything at any time.

Jill Tarter of the SETI institute said in one of her videos that if aliens can travel far across the cosmos to Earth they can do anything (I think she meant ALMOST anything) but that is NOT necessarily true.

"This is reality, Greg!" Yep, I love that line too.

My fave scene has to be towards the end when E.T. is looking up as his ship is arriving. His heart light is glowing and he has the most content happy look on his face. Wonderful scene.

That and the first time Michael and Gertie see E.T. We know what happens; it's so funny and so real as most of us would have reacted the same way.

My fave line has to be anything from Gertie. She's so perfectly natural playing with E.T.

I had several favorite lines in the movie, but the one I REMEMBER the most, and the one that hit me the hardest was from ET. It's right at the end, when he's saying good bye to Elliot, and he puts his hands up and gestures to him while saying "come". I don't know why, but that kills me every time.

Whores will have their trinkets.

My favorite moments: E.T. gets drunk; E.T. tries to heal Michael's, "head wound"; and the part where Elliott sees E.T. dressed up as a lady. And, of course, the famous, "E.T. and Elliott fly through the forest on a bike," scene.

"Never mind walking a mile in my shoes. Try thinking a day in my head."
