Ridiculously underrated

Agreed. This should be 8.7 not 7.8

It is absurd really. My favourite all time film, that still ranks as fourth in terms of attendance of any film ever (and it was above Star Wars before Star Wars had a big hit rerelease and E.T's bombed).

Personally I think it has something to do with the fact that it's not part of some franchise but is a standalone film.

And the hell with its detractors, they wouldn't know a good film if it swam up and bit them on the (word IMDB won't allow). They probably watched the 2002 edition on DVD in between playing with their smartphone.

This and CLOSE ENCOUNTERS are both far better than JURASSIC PARK.
