Goosebumps

I'm talking about the iconic moon/bike riding scene coupled with the John Williams soundtrack, still gets me every time since I was 2 years old!

Me too!!! The first part of the flying sequence always gets me, literally nearly moves me to tears. Superb soundtrack

As sad as it sounds, even now if I see a full moon and trees close by I still get chills and think ET on a BMX

reply

Me too! Pure magic then and now!

reply

For me, the whole bike chase does it for me.

They could play John Williams' theme over images of a fat guy eating Cheetos and I'd still get goosebumps. That's how powerful it is.

The bike chase sequence with the dramatic Williams score and climax drop is amazing... All the way up to the point where E.T. Takes them flying at the blockade. Beautiful score.

Tell me about it! I just got home from seeing it at Davies Symphony Hall with the San Francisco Symphony playing John Williams' iconic score live. It's such an amazing experience to watch a film like this and have live orchestral accompaniment. I got full body goosebumps during the flying scene and bike chase....and even teared up a bit! :-)

reply

Yes. I agree. John Williams is a genius, and the score of E.T. always touched me as well.

To me, the one with the group of bikers and the sunset is more a emotional scene.

I think the flying scene is one of few scenes in movie history that really describes the magic of movies.
Everything from the score to the way it's shot is pure joy to watch! It's synergy at it's best
