well, finally saw it

and it only took 34 years, its really not a bad picture.

It's really not now you can see what the fuss was about with this film.

I only saw it once when it first hit the theatres, and caught bits and pieces of it throughout the years on HBO and so forth, but not until recently when I saw it from beginning to end again did I really come to appreciate it. I grew up like Elliot, minus the space alien, ... and at the time it almost felt like whoever made the film was trying to ... sell us kids a "bill of goods".

Kind of like Spielberg was saying "I know you guys ... what do you think?!" But in retrospect I think I appreciate the effort more now as a middle aged adult, than I did as a kid who was a few years older than Elliot.

Yeah exactly it isn't really a child's film I think it is more suitable for adults. Like for me I never really understood it until I saw it again recently.
