For years and years I've remembered how scared I was ofthis film. All I remembered was the pizza cutter going up the bannisters and the radio in the bath. Looking on Dark Night Of The Scarecrow someone said about "tying the shoelaces together" Oh my god...so pleased
its funny in a way everyone who remember's how scary this movie was is in there 20's now i seen this one when i was 11 or 12 i remember it either was friday or thursday nights usa showed horror movies this was one of the many scary one's i wish i could remember the rest they were really good it was this one,the changeling, the omen 1 and 2,psyco but there was another movie i think it was sorta like don't go to sleep and the changeling i think furniture moves around on the 2nd floor and the mother checks on the kids and the kids say it was the ghosts but they never believe them intill a girl disapears but its not poltergiest
oh my gosh, for the longest time all I remembered was the pizza cutter also. I have wondered over the last few years what the movie was and now I know! I really want to see it again (and yes, I am in my 20's also). This was definitely a good movie...the pizza cutter thing is classic!
Maybe someone can help me with another one I saw when I was younger. It may have not been a movie but a show like twilight zone or something. In it, these people are doing some kind of experimentation on animals (mice/rats). There is a woman who is one of the main scientists. All I can really remember is that the rats, or mice (whatever they were), escaped and started killing people, and they stabbed the scientist lady with a fork. It's just something that was creepy and always stayed with me.
I loved this movie when I saw it on TV. They must have replayed it a few times, cause I was 3 years old in 1982. I was pretty young, but not that young. All I remembered was the tying of the sister's shoes, the part where the boy died, the dad dying in the tub, the iguana, and at the very end where the mother is in bed and the ghost of daughter at the end of the bed. That part scared the hell out of me. I couldn't sleep after that. Kept thinking she was at the end of my bed.

*Hi there agian, The title of the show your are looking for is monsters, it was a good episode aswell :-), I remember that episode very well as I use to have it on tape years ago, hope that helps :-)*
OH MY LORD!!!! My life is complete! I've racked my brains trying to remember the name of this movie. You're right about the 20's thing...I'm 23 and this scared the living daylights out of me. I saw this like in 87' or something and I've never forgotten it. Heck, I still second guess looking under my bed! I don't think I have the guts to add it to my dvd collection. Oh that last scene where the ghost chick rises from the end of the bed...that scene is the reason I sleep in the fetal position.
it makes me laugh in away thinking about this u propably saw all the horror movies i have.. dont look in the mirror too long, dont look under the bed, dont go into the closet at night, dont keep clowns in the room, dont sleep straight or have your arm hanging down off the bed, dont have sex if u think something bad is going to happen jason might appear..lol dont fall asleep freddy is waiting dont play with that box pinhead will show up dont get any toys from the store they might be possessed like chucky dont stare at the static on tv... ( the tv people) dont answer toyphones when they ring by them self when your bed starts shaking.. call a priest.. :P
THANK YOU, my life is now complete. I have been trying to find the name of this film and another (Midnight Madness, completely different genre) for atleast 10 years. I seen it when I was very young, im not in my late 20's. IMDB is the bomb.
Also not sure if this scene is from this movie or another like it, but a young boy goes up on the roof to get a frisbee that was thrown up there, while he is up there the little girl opens the window knocking him off the roof. Is this scene from this movie or a different movie?
As some of you may or may not know, we were engaged in getting DGTS remade as a feature film. I posted this news back in 2004, I think. I had just made a deal with a producer in LA and he had put together a package to take to the studios. They all turned it down, so we have put the film on the back burner for now.
Sorry for not writing here more often. It has been harder to find a studio than we originally thought. When it looks like we have another shot, we will be submitting it again. The screen name Keylimepie is me, Ned Wynn (I think you can look into my profile and see that, I don't know). The funny thing is that some people think it's not me. Why on earth would anyone claim to be Ned Wynn who isn't him? What's the gain there? Talk about an unfamous guy, what is the point of "impersonating" him on a remote thread of IMDb?
Anyway, I wish I had better things to report. I know that the group we have together, both the two producers and the director with me onboard as the screenwriter, will make a properly scary movie once we get a studio or some investors onboard; it will be updated and tuned to the times, and I will do all I can to preserve the very real ambiance of terror that made the original so indelibly etched on your brains. Again, I apologize for my long absence here. Keep the faith, folks. I really do appreciate all of you who loved this movie. You make me feel great. It's been a long time since anything I wrote has been made (Holy Joe was my last sold screenplay back in 1999). I now teach screenwriting part time at San Francisco State and do book and film reviews for a Sydney weekly. I'm also writing a novel. So it's nice to know that there are some people who like this film enough to want to find it, and eventually, hopefully, you will be rewarded with a feature film. When that happens you can say you knew the screenwriter when...
OMG! Ned you are a god and I hope you do get a studio to cough up! If I had the money, I'd invest. Perhaps you should speak to the British Film Federation (or whatever it's called) and get some guy over here to get involved and they may give you a grant. I'm sure we'd all help petition it. Anyway, thanks for a great childhood memory! By the way, I tried scaring my sister like Kevin did to Mary, with the tape recorder, but it didn't work.......:( All the best mate. Paul Adams
Thanks, Paul. I've an Aussie mate named Paul, and I thought you were him at first. Thanks for the kind words and the idea about the British Film Federation.
This is so crazy that everyone on here didnt know the name of this movie either and spent many years wondering about it because i just found out tonight what the name of this movie was. i am in my early 20's (21 to be exact). everybody remembers the shoe lace and pizza cutter scenes too. i mean its just weird how we all saw this movie and didnt know the name of it. we mustve all seen it on the same night:)
i remember it came on the usa channel it was horror movie night either friday or saturday
don't go to sleep the changeling < that one took me forever to remember the movie i was at the video store explaining the only part i remember actually there were 2 the wheel chair chasing the lady down the stairs and the ball bouncing down the stairs it was my lucky night she knew exactly what it was it wasnt as scary as i remembered it but it was still good im glad i got to see it again though
there are others im mostly looking for the ones about haunted houses like poltergiest, exorcist
thats why i watched it with my sister the little kid in me still scared to watch anything by myself u know like poltergiest i saw that movie i know a 100 times but i cant watch it by myself because im scared of the clown...lol
thanks for that reply :) i cant wait to watch it again i always keep an eye out trying to get it on dvd
This film has been in the back of my mind for years ... don't ask me why my grandparents let me stay up and watch movies like this when I was probably only about 5 years old! The funny thing is that the only scenes I remembered were the boy getting the frisbee and falling off the roof and the hairdryer in the tub. I really did not even remember that this was a ghost movie! I just remembered that all the family members kept dying. I'm so relieved that now I know the name of this movie!
Isn't it amazing that a film from the early eighties can have such an impact on people. I'm now 30 and this film has always stayed in my head, I can remember watching it with my family. I've taken to watching all the films that scared me so much has a child to see if they really were as spooky has my memory will have be believe. Children of the Corn was a major problem for me having been tricked into watching the first half by a babysitter ("Don't worry you won't be scared, its a funny film!" - Yeah right!)That Issaac man - he still freaks me out! Halloween I can sit through just don't let me hear the theme tune!.
Anyway, I'm def gonna try and find a copy of this film, as its a classic!
I can't believe I finally found this! I really didn't think I would. That is why I haven't looked til now, but this is one of those movies that never leaves even though I only saw it the one time when I was like 8 and my memory was never that great for movies or shows. But, this one you never forget especially the pizza cutter!
I finally found it searching on Yahoo Questions. I posted a few months ago on this website on a different movie about an evil girl and car burning...anyways, I asked who knew the title of my ambiguous description. I just remembered shoe laces being tied, car burning up. I saw it when I was a little girl, they made this movie the year I was born. I can't believe I finally know what it is!!!!
