2 versions of ending!!!

I've seen this movie for the first time in 1986, and I was feeling uncomfortable for most of the movie, because of a young girl killing off her family with the correlation of her undead sister. By the climax, I was surely thrown off by Mary slicing up that anchovie pizza with the cutter, then running that cutter against the cable lines to prevent her frightened mom from calling fo help. Very creepy and effective.

Now, for the ending: in 1986, Jennifer knocks several times, needs permission for her mother to allow her to appear. That's an aspect when it comes to the undead, like vampires: they can only enter your house if you believe in them and
give them the rights to enter, otherwise they cannot. Anyway, when the girl rises at the foot of the bed, she smiles a sinister smile and her eyes burn into
the viewer with shadowy explications. When I saw it again in 1998, Jennifer rises and smiles sort of slyly, but no spookily, as when I saw it in 1986. I thought this was an anomaly, but when I bought the dvd last year and viewed it again, Jennifer smiles the dark smile as her eyes grow strangely dark. Does anyone else notice this, or have seen both versions? I find this uncanny.

wow, I see you posted this two years ago. I've tried ebay.com, amazon.com, sinistercinema.com, revok.com, unlimitedmovies.com. I think I'll get a job working at ABC so that I can search their archives or at least slap some sense into the producers so that they officially release it on DVD.

Well, two years later...I've only seen the original VHS version and a bootleg DVD of this movie (not the original airing), but in both that I have, there is knocking at the door THEN Jennifer's head appears over the end of the bed. So, both endings you remember are correct, you just seem to be separating things that happened. Maybe in 1996 you needed to turn up the volume on your TV...

<I just watched this again for the first time in years. I taped it off the late late show in 1995 and watched it once before. The ending especially scared the hell out of me. I decided to re-visit the movie again tonight. There is indeed a few soft knocks at the door, then she appears infront of the bed, with a sly, yet scary, smirk. I always assumed Valerie Harper was killed off in this, but I guess there is no definite answer to that. > *beep*

I saw this movie too, years ago, but i remember in the version i saw, there were indeed soft knocks on the mother's bedroom door because VAlerie had been in bed, but in response to the knocks, Valerie said 'yes'? and a nurse appeared at the door, saying she was just checking on Valerie. I think the nurse asked if she needed anything. Valerie smiled and just said 'no, thank you.' It was THEN that the daughter's head slowly rose at the head of the bed and said 'Hi Mommy' .. and smiled with bright eyes. Then i remember Valerie screaming.

Downloaded this & "dark night of the scarecrow" from

http://cultrararevideos.com/forgottenflixd.html

the version there has Valerie in bed then the knocking at the door, the first time it's the nurse asking if she needs anything else. Valerie says "no" then a second knocking & Valerie with her eyes closed just says "come in" When Valerie opens her eyes she sees the daughter's silhouette appear at the foot of the bed. What i thought was creepy was how the daughter's face seemed to be superimposed over the shadow. Very sureal! wasn't sure what effect they were going for, but it made the scene even more scary.

I just watched it on you tube and I got the dark sinister eyes, like you said about 1986. I've only seen it that one time.

PS Where did you get your DVD of it, I want it !!!!!
