I know it scared me as a kid when I first saw it. I wish I could see it again but can't find it anywhere

I found it... Just got a wild hair and did a search on ebay.. and I got it for 20 bucks from user name "harbinger1976". I dont know if they have any more, but Im sure you could ask them. I have remembered this movie from when I was six, and I have kept my eye out for it ever since.. then it hit me that the title was "Don't go to Sleep" and not "Don't stay asleep" like I thought it was.

It really wasn;t that great of a movie. In fact, it will probably disappoint you. The ghost kills, but she's a sweet and fashionable 11-13 year old girl, with a playful demeaner -- who was killed by her drunk-driver dad.

Her sister, Mary, is blamed for all of Jennifer's murders and is put in the 'nuthouse' when Mom is all that's left of the family.

All the more tragic considering how much Mary loved Jennifer, and was sorry for her part in the prank that resulted in Jennifer's death. (it was the drunk driver father's fault only).

It has a very sweet, childhood memories / melancholy type themesong, which I'd like a copy of. Little more playful than Poltergiest's lullabyish themesong.

I finally got a copy of this film after waiting many years to find out what it was called. I wish I hadn't now as I didn't enjoy it the second time round (although this may be because the sound is slightly out of sync with the film) and it has stolen some truely scary childhood memories of this film.

what is the ending of this movie, I can't find it anywhere and I can't remember the ending

Ending of the movie-

Both Brother and Father dead. The sister. (Mary) is in psychatric hospital. Telling the story of the accident.
Mother is home and being cared for by nurse. In bed. The nurse checks on her then as the mother is falling asleep. The dead daughter rises up at the foot of the bed. leans onto the edge of bed with elbows.scary smirk on her face and wild eyes. says "Hi Mommy"... the mother screams. The end! You got to see it to appreciate it!

Peeps, there are some really well-cleaned up clips now at YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh2m7BmjWrM. You can make up your own minds about whether you think a remake would be cool. The pizza cutter scene is there as well.

I saw it as a kid and even though I couldn't remember it all I was curious about seeing it again. I bought it off eBay, watched it once and sold it the following week. I think that says it all!! I can't for the life of me figure out why so many people are on here saying it's terrifying. It didn't scare me one bit. And to be honest I've kinda forgotten it again. Good horror movies tend to play on my mind. I'd skip it.

I am not sure if I actaully thought it was "scary" but so many scenes stayed with me as a kid seeing this movie.
the kids tying jenn's shoelaces and her face in the car window when they could not save her.
the boy falling off the roof when the window opens and mom dropping watermelon on the floor at the exact moment his head went splat.
grandma in bed with the lizard
dad in the tub with the radio
pizza cutter scene
mary in the straight jacket
grams totally adoring jennifer and ignoring the other kids.

its just the kind of movie that stays with you plus its creepy esp when you first see it as a little kid.

It's more ridiculous than good. I think I posted a 'review' on here, if you want to read it. This is JUST the sort of movie that the MST3K crew would've done, and in fact that's what my wife and I often lapse into when we watch our bootleg DVD of it (it's a fave of hers from childhood).
This is a pretty typical example of 'horror' TV movies from the 70s/80s, so if that's your thing then this is good for you. On a scale of actual films, though, no, this is not good.
