Jen's Quest
Why didn't UrSa tell Jen about his destined quest before he was about to die? Jen wouldn't have been so clueless (and I like Jen) and it seemed careless on the part of the Mystics not to groom Jen for his quest.

shareI've always wondered that myself! If they were supposedly grooming him to heal the crystal, why did they wait until the last minute to tell him about it, and then not give him enough details, so that he'd be clueless when he found the shard?
Other questions I have:
1) Why didn't Kira just drink her own essence back after she escaped the Chamber of Life?
2)Why do the Mystics and the Skekses somewhat resemble each other (2 pairs of arms, long tail, triangular faces - except that one stands erect more than the other), but neither of them resemble the humanoid-looking UrSkeks?
3)Why don't the Mystics do more to control the Skekses? They know they can't kill each other, because they'd kill themselves. They could use that as leverage.
4)Why does Jen arrive at Aughra's in the afternoon, but when the garthim attack (which seems like only a few minutes later), it's nighttime? Just how many hours did it take Jen to figure out which shard was real?

For your questions:
Mystics were probably waiting for some sort of sign. They also probably knew he'd find the information on his quest.
1. Good question. In the hurry, she probably didn't think about it. Panic can make you forget that stuff.
2. My guess is that when the crystal was shattered, it made them different-looking.
3. The Mystics probably did at first. We know that there were more Mystics and Skekses at first, but 10 at the start of the movie. The two probably stopped hostilities towards each other because of that.
4. We don't know what time in the afternoon Jen arrives at Aughra's. He could have arrived close to dusk. That, and when the garthim attack, we don't know how far it was from the Castle to Aughra's.

oh yeah, and one more question...
When Skek-Zok commands the crystal bats:
"Crystal bats fly!
Search the land, search the water, search the sky!"
Why would anyone "search the sky" for Gelflings?
Although I did read a fanfic once where Gelflings would fly a giant domesticated bird, but of course that's not in the movie. I suppose it would be because they needed a word to rhyme with "fly"!

Maybe, since female Gelflings have wings, there could possibly have been flying Gelflings at one point in this world's history. Kira uses her wings to simply float down a long drop, but maybe she could use them to actually fly as she matures or if she practiced and got stronger. Who knows?
Wouldn't that be awesome if we see Kira free-flying in some situation in the sequel? Maybe now that she's several hundred years old, maybe her wings are stronger and more mature and can be used for more than just a parachute. Also, in the well-known picture of Queen Kira, Doesn't that look like her wings on either side of her, or is that just part of her costume?

That would be pretty cool! Now that you mention it, those do appear to be wings on Queen Kira... hmmmmm....
It would be nice if they would get a move on with this sequel!
"Moldy mildew, mother of mouthmuck, dangle and strangle and death!"
"Oh, how crude!"
Well, since this is coming up 2010, I expect that we'll see a trailer for it sometime this year, if it's supposed to be released in 2011.

"Watch your tongue, harridan, we are lords of the crystal!"
I love that word...
harridan noun
/ˈhær.ɪ.dən/US pronunciation symbol/ˈher-/ n [C] old-fashioned disapproving
an unpleasant, especially older woman, who shouts a lot
"I am riding one of nature's most fearsome creatures! I ride...THE SQUIRREL!!"
That´s funny,on the novle Kyra drank her essence when Aughra told her to do so,and Mystics didn´t kill themselves because it could have fatal consecuences for the planet´s balance,on a spiritual way or something...
