UK television premiere

Does anyone remember the precise premiere date. I know it was either 1984 or 1985 between christmas and new years day. My memories of it my mother took me, my younger brother and sister to her friend's house all the adults stayed in the living room area while we, the children, went upstairs where the rest of the children were watching tv and this film was on. A few of us was concentrating on the movie, I was one of them, while most of the kids in the room who a lot of them was older were making some noise causing some distraction. You could not believe how enthralled and enticed I was by this film it was something I never saw admitely only seen the last half or third of the Dark Crystal but it so imprinted in my young memory I would never forget it, the most immersed part was the castle show down at the near end. Scant memories of seeing the tv advertisment for the original release in 1982 but admitely was not to excited by it well I was only 7 years of age. My next mission is to go to my local library and hopefully they have a dvd copy so I would rent it out.
