The Mystics didn't have ladders. No offense to the film, but the whole reason why Gelflings are so important is because they were the only ones who could jump/fly and get on top of the crystal. So if someone had a ladder wouldn't the prophecy have been over?
That would've lead to a funny yet anti-climatic ending... the Mystics bringing in their ladders.
No, the Mystics are too slow. And the Podlings maybe,... but I think they lack intelligence or they dont care / dont understand it. Also they are a bit small.
shareIf the Mystics had a ladder they would've been able to fix the crystal. Obviously it wasn't speed since there were able to make it to the crystal and know exactly what to do. I'm going with the ladder idea. Maybe they weren't invented.
