How were the Garthim and the Crystal Bats created?
How did Augra know that Kira could communicate with the animals?
The Garthim were created by the Skeksis scientist, basing their design on a creature from the homeworld of the urSkeks (the creatures that split into Skeksis and Mystics), specifically to collect and kill Gelflings. The Crystal Bats were again a creation of the scientist, who selectively bred them to fly during daylight hours. Both of them were necessary, as the Skeksis could not stay out of the castle for long, as they needed the crystal to replenish themselves.
Aughra I'm not so sure of, but it is implied in the books and comics that she can see everything on the planet, as she has a connection to the earth and plants.
