Badelia is saying something like.. we turned it over.. haha.. and no one could catch us. you tought me and sylvia, you tought us all! haha.. she has that accent plus is drunk and discombobulated so i cant make out what she is trying to say.. is she saying that she was able to make it look like an accident.. what is she saying, does anyone know?
thanks! mystery solved. reading it i can hear it in her weird accent. I wonder what she meant that he tought sylvia.. taught us all. did sylvia do something too i wonder. i read on another thread the ashtry is in every segment of the movie.
Sylvia helped hide the crime. She cleaned it all up and set it to look like an accident while Bedelia calmed down.
Sylvia had as much to gain from it all as Bedelia.
I think Bedelia was referring to the fact that Nate earned his money through a criminal enterprise, so they all knew how to operate on the shady side of the law.
And yeah, the ashtray is in all of them.
The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill - You can see it when the professor from the Department of Meteors is opening the cash box.
Something to Tide You Over - It's next to Leslie Nielsen's bed.
The Crate - Can be seen when Henry is writing the note to Wilma.
They're Creeping Up On You - It is the soap dish when Pratt washes his hands.
For a long time I thought that Viveca Lindfors ad-libbed some or all of that dialogue. It seems like they gave her the basics on the backstory and she just went off and did her own thing. It feels like a really natural piece of acting to me. Just watching the movie again on Netflix and I like Aunt Bedelia a lot. :)

Yes the beautiful signature Marble Ashtray . It was like it's own character ( or mascot ) of this movie lol . I always wondered what happened to that very special movie prop now ( where or who did it end up with ? ) . Thanks zyggums for bringing that subject up and to podobuzz for your reply on that as well .
I got a good look at Nathan's tombstone. He was born in 1878, got killed in 1972 (at 94), and the story took place seven years later making it 1979. That guy's remark that Nathan had a stroke when he was "184 years old" had to have been facetious.
ah, they were just making fun of the old guy, indicating he had been very old. Sylvia earlier mentions that "Bedelia was her aunt, and the two 'kids' (Cass and Richard, Richard is the one who said 184 years old) great-aunt, which also meant she was older than God. But that her father Nathan was older and meaner than that." So they were just making fun of the fact he was so old.
