This is a wonderful score. It always gets stuck in my head for days whenever I watch the movie. I thought some of the music in some scenes was the same as Night of the Living Dead. Was that just my imagination or did other people notice as well? Either way, I think this score is excellent and one of the best I've heard in a horror movie.
I agree, there are moments at which the two scores sound uncannily similar.
I'm thinking particularly of Ben boarding up the house and lighting the chair on fire and shots of Leslie Nielsen's beach house. There's some eerie female vocalizing that seems to be almost identical.
There is so much music in the movie that you would have to have 2 cds at least to hold it all.
And in my opinion, this new expanded cd sucks. Tracks are faded in or out when they shouldn't be. The laugh is unprocessed and in different places during the main theme (it is fine on the original cd). There is loud hiss and hum in some parts and some clicking that shouldn't be there. There are not many library tracks. I am not sure yet but I don't think they added any new Harrison original music. For $20 which is twice as much, and in some cases 10x as much as the dvd or bluray, I want everything. So I advise to skip it until these idiots get it right which they can't cause they suck at their job.
I agree, I was disappointed by the new 'expanded' edition soundtrack. The bonus library tracks are nice to have but there is still a lot of music missing from the original score that I expected to be on this CD. I still prefer the original soundtrack release, it sounds better and it doesn't have the annoying fade-in/fade-out on the tracks that osnato31 mentioned. I'm a huge Creepshow fan but I have to admit, it's not worth it.
