Why doesn't Scream Factory put out a DVD/Blu Ray

Since they've done a re-release of George Romero's Day of the Dead why not Creepshow? Is it a rights issue, the 1999 DVD from Warner Bros. is over a decade old and the digital transfer is less than stellar, I'd like to see the special features from the U.K. edition ported over to region 1.

Not sure what's happening, but it would be nice if Shout! re-released the film with new features and interviews, and maybe with the deleted scenes edited back into the film of course.

I think Universal owns international rights, so it's unlikely the JUST DESSERTS documentary would be included, but that would be cool, because it's a great documentary.

I would buy the Blu Ray day one.

why don't u just buy the region 2 on import???? half of my dvds are region 1 because the dvds (here in UK) were crap with no extras.

we all go a little mad sometimes....

reply

Primarily its due to the fact that a cult classic like Creepshow hasn't been ever given a special edition release here in region 1 America, if the inferior sequel Creepshow 2 received a Divimax release from Anchor Bay back in 2004,then the original should get equal treatment.

And with Dvd's it's pretty easy to make a region free copy for those who don't want to change their region code or have a region free player.

Every digital release of Creepshow has been cropped and altered in some way. The OAR is 1.66 or less and the word *beep* is replaced by crotch in The Crate. I would love an uncropped stabilized transfer bluray dvd combo and I don't even care about extras unless it comes with a comic book replica. The WB dvd has surround ac3 which is fine but 5.1 would be better. I think it was mixed like that.

Happy Father's Day!

I'm sure if they could, Shout Factory would get the rights to do it in a heartbeat, but Warner Bros. is notoriously anal about leasing out the rights to their films. It's why Criterion hasn't been able to release some of their films, like "The Devils", "Barry Lyndon", "Dangerous Liaisons" or "The Fountain".

That would be awesome.

Lucky Me, I found a DVD of it weeks ago at a local pawn shop. It was really cheap, too.

I shouldn't have to buy a region 2 dvd player just to watch the special edition of Creepshow. I'm hoping Warner Bros fixes whatever issue is causing them to not release it in the states.
