Horror fans--Please help me figure out the name of a movie!

I'm trying to figure out the name of a movie I saw as a child. I'm pretty sure this is a movie that came out in the early to mid 80s, and that it would almost certainly be in the horror movie section of your local video movie club. Not certain of the country of origin, but most likely it is American. There are two scenes I remember: 1) Opening scene/credits: a small, rainy harbor. Workers doing boat stuff, wearing yellow raincoats. A demonically-possessed, grimy, possibly rotting humanoid being leaps from the harbor, pulling one of the boat workers down under the water. 2) At various points in the movie: a door opens in a public place (party, bar, restaurant, etc) to reveal a blue glowing void. The doorway wants to possess a certain person in the room. No one else in the room is aware of this door despite it filling the room with light (dramatic irony!). The targeted person desperately tries to resist the lure of the room and implores others to help, but they all just snicker and eventually the person is compelled to enter the room (or is possibly pulled in by some sort of energy field). Once they come out, you know they are now possessed because their eyes are filled with a blue glow. It's possible that I'm conflating two movies, but I don't think so. PLEASE HELP! WHAT IS THIS MOVIE?!?

Don't know any actors in it?

wow. that doesn't sound familiar, at all. the first half sounds like an episode of the X-Files. my google search didn't turn up anything useful when i went looking for blue glowing eyes nad possession. could it be the movie 'Lifeforce?'

The Fog..?

It's not "The Fog". Unless the OP really has some details messed up, which is understandable, I too have some movie segments burned in my memory that I can't figure out and are likely contaminated by other memories. But the opening scene of The Fog is an old man telling a ghost story to a bunch of kids on a campout. The Fog/Sailors don't appear until later in the movie, and they don't leap. Also there's no demonic possession or glowing doorways that nobody else can see. Although there are times where the sailors are standing in front of the bluish glowing fog, either in a room or doorway, and the sailors eyes glow. But they don't possess people, just kill them.

Sounds a bit like The Fog to me.

Actually, your first point sounds like the opening scene in Humanoids From The Deep, but as far as I remember there was no fog or glowing eyes in that movie.

first one sounds like zombi2-lucio fulci signature opening after "the boat can leave now" segment.
second one 20% poltergeist but not sure about the eyes.
