Has the Region 1 Anchor Bay Special Edition been cancelled???

Okay, now I know that there will be a British region 2 DVD of this cult classic featuring an audio commentary by director Mark L. Lester.

However, there was a US Region 1 Special Edition promised to the fans which would have been been available from August 23rd. But the distributor Anchor Nay Entertainment now mentions nothing of this on its Coming Soon section of their site. More special features were promised then anvailable on the Region 2 DVD, so i want to hold out for the Region 1 release. But is it ever going to happen??? Somebody please tell me, because I like my DVD's with the best quality and best extra's, something that Anchor Bay usually provides and the reason why I was ecstatic when it was mentioned months ago that they were releasing the DVD of this great film.

Does anyone kwno more info on the R1 release???

I buy a lot of DVDS and I cant find anything about Class of 1984 DVD. We cant even see the DVD cover so I think Anchor Bay is not going to put this out.

January 17, 2006 is now the release date and that's according to Best Buy's website: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7184646&type=product&id=1422170

Don't hold your breath, it could be pushed back even more since they've changed the date at least 2 times thus far.

I think we will see it. Anchor Bay has been busy releasing some movies I didn't think would come out on dvd recently such as Peter Fonda "Race With The Devil".

For those interested in buying the DVD..It has been released in Australia in region 4 format.For purchasing info click on the link...For multizone this disc will be no prob and before you ask it is the UNCUT version of the film..

Mark Lester has given the following quote. 'THE UK VERSION BEING RELEASED BY MOSAIC IS THE EXACT VERSION OF THE US RELEASE BY ANCHOR BAY. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL US THEATRICAL RELEASED PICTURE AND IS APPROVED PERSONALLY BY ME AS THE FINAL DIRECTOR CUT OF THE FILM. SINCERELY,MARK L.LESTER'

On the bigsky video release in Australia,when the directors commentary is activated,a spokesperson for Anchor Bay Entertainment is talking to Mark Lester...Interesting!!
