The Reinstated Scenes
Got the British Mosaic DVD yesterday via Amazon. Noticed the following scenes that weren't in any version I have seen previously (even the pre-cert Thorn EMI release in the early 1980s).
* Introuctory written prologue concerning the amount of attacks on staff in US High Schools.
* Fight with Joo Joo's gang is slightly longer, more shots of Fallon punching people with his chain.
* Sally strips naked in front of the gang when introduced to Stegman as a potential whore.
* Fallon's death is much more graphic. First Norris cuts his right arm off before pushing him back over the saw blade.
* Patsy, Barnyard and Drugstore finding Fallon's body. Fallon switches off the saw and vows to 'cut Norris's *beep* heart out'.
* Drugstore's immolation is marginally longer, as is the close up of his twitching, roasted corpse.
* Norris hits Barnyard several times over the head with the pipe.
* Stegman cuts Diane's breasts before his final fight with Norris.
* A written epilogue which states 'Andy Norris was never prosecuted as the police couldn't find anyone who actually saw it happen'.
Some of these scenes (Sally's introduction, Fallon's death) are blatantly separate takes from previously seen versions (even dialogue is changed slightly). Sally was fully dressed throughout her scene in the version I saw in the UK circa 1985 and Fallon's death went immediately from Norris breaking free to him pushing Fallon back over the blade without any visible cuts.
The rape scene I haven't sat through yet as my interest was mainly seeing how Fallon died in the unedited version.
I preferred the version I originally saw which did not have the written epilogue as this left Andy's fate uncertain.
Oh, and Mark Lester states on the DVD that originally Stegman was meant to lose his grip on the ropes and fall to his death but preview audiences wanted to see the teacher knock him down.
