TWO QUESTIONS

I loved the movie, but two questions:

1. Why was it called "Class of 1984", although the movie was made in '82 or even '81.
2. What happened to Andrew? (my copy has french text and english sound)

*Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge*

In real life, the Class Of 1984 would be the class who would graduate in 1984, so it could be that the majority of kids in the film would graduate in a couple of years time.

In the English version, the writing at the end says that Andrew couldn't be prosecuted because nobody actually saw it happen.

I think you're both right. Yes, they would graduate in 1984 and, yes, this is a slightly futuristic dystopia. But the Orwell reference is pretty bloody loose - it doesn't bear any relation to the book '1984' whatsoever...if it did then the teachers would be ruling...and ruling easily!

Well, seems like 1984 was supposingly considered as the year, where a lot of *beep* gonna happen. I agree that the novel 1984 has nothing to do with the movie, just the small fact I just mentioned.
Additionally I dont think that those students graduate in 1984 [actually they do not graduate at all :-)]. It's the commitment to show to the society of 1981 how it could be in about three years, if things won't change.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that "Menace II Society" went in the same controversial direction.
