PKD's inspiration

Do Androids Dream... was published in 1968. "My Living Doll" was a sitcom about a female robot hiding out and living in a guys apartment. 25 episodes ran on CBS in '64, '65. The robot was just Julie Newmar acting like a robot. The same writers did "I Dream Of Jeannie" and "Bewitched".
This robot was built in secret at NASA by a scientist who called himself her uncle, and was designed to be a robot astronaut. Her name was Robot 709, later changed to Rhoda. She was faster than a human, I don't remember if she was stronger.
She lived with a NASA psychiatrist played by Bob Cummings. In his previous show "The New Bob Cummings Show" he played a privite detective who traveled around in a flying car. A tiny car that towed it's tail, wings, boom and propeller behind it. It was a real street legal flying car called an "Aerocar" Google it.
In the mid-60's you only had the 3 network stations, a local station, and maybe PBS. Watching was free. Pretty sure PKD watched My Living Doll.
