Sean Young's Rachael is one of the greatest femme fatales of all time.

Fact.

Um didn't realize she was a femme fatale???

reply

She doesn't hold a candle to Barbara Stanwyck in "Double Indemnity." Or, a contemporary like Kathleen Turner in "Body Heat."

reply

sad for you that you can't see her greatness.

reply

Not all femme fatales are villains, Dunaway in Chinatown is another example.

reply

I will concede that the Rachael character harbors some of the outward qualities of a femme fatale, but how does that make her one of the greatest?

As a replicant she has only as much agency as her programming allows... Are you suggesting that Rachael was programmed to act as a "femme fatale" to Deckard?

reply

no, it's a noir film and she is the femme fatale, it's that simple. Also, I'm sure the replicants have more agency than that.

reply

She isn't a femme fatale. There's no 'fatale' in her. She fits the paradigm exactly zero. The other two replicants are, if anything, closer.

reply

Exactly. Pris is closer to the femme fatale of the film, although she doesn’t interact with Deckard until the end when she sticks her fingers up his nose and he blows her away.

reply

She's more like Femme Beautifale
