Would you consider Sean Young's performance in this good?

Genuinely curious what the general opinion on this is...I actually thought that as a (spoilers maybe?)

Robot who doesn't know she's a robot, it's actually a really good, nuanced performance...but who knows if the robotic aspects of her performance were intentional or not.

The last time I watched BR, I thought she was the best thing about it. I don't think she acts like a robot at all. She's actually more human than all the humans in Blade Runner combined.

Yes. There's something that seems slightly artificial about her in the beginning (for obvious reasons), but in the end she certainly feels more human than anyone else in the film. In a word, she was flawless.

You want something corny? You got it!

I agree that Sean was very good in BR. Yet she's usually not known to be a strong actress.
But I give a lot of credit for this to Ridley Scott and his team. They took a newcomer and made her look great.

I also think that BR was Harrison Ford's best performance (even though he hated the tough conditions in the shoot).

BB ;-)

it is just in my opinion - imo - 🌈

Mhm provides a question for all Deckard-is-a-replicant heretics: how come all replicants act in a recognisable replicant manner and Deckard's behavior is very much human?

reply

The VK test is a farce!

Watch when Deckard runs the "test" on Rachael, at some point he says "orange body green legs".
Later, when Rachael comes to his home, he asks her "remember that spider in the window, orange body, green legs?".
Rachael says "yeah, I remember it"
Deckard exclaims "fake memories!"

Well, of course the memory of the spider orange body green legs is fake, Deckar put that memory inside Rachael's mind, when he ran the VK "test" on her.

Now think of Rachael's condition, as Deckard tells her she's a machine: she just killed Leon, ran away from the Tyrell pyramid, police is after her, she realized she was a slave, has nobody to go to but the very executioner who hunts persons like her, and this dood is telling her that picture she holds in her hand, of her and her mother, is photoshopped...

I thought she was excellent. The scenes where she discusses her memories and whatnot are very well done because you totally accept her as being a replicant and get involved with her emotions. All that and she looked beautiful on top of it.
