So apparently the stunt doubles failed multiple times at making the final jump from building to building and Hauer completed it himself after witnessing the falls.

This was of course after he agreed Ridley Scott would have the set designer move the building a foot or so closer for the attempt.

This and many other little things are in the "Dangerous Days" video.

Also, Hauer came up with his final monologue all by himself i heard.

As if his performance wasn't impressive enough, you then hear of this and how he was responsible for the tears in rain speech/line (most BR fans are obviously aware of the latter). Casting him as Batty was perfection, to say the least.
