Could this have been nommed for Best Original Song Score that year?
I see Victor, Victoria won. Wasn't that adapted from a musical? etc. Same for Annie.

shareNo Victor,Victoria was not a stage musical until several years after the film. The only thing "Best Little" could have got is best song (and that only for "I will always love you", or "sneekin around", "Where Stallions Run" would not qualify because it was not in the standard print).
share"I Will Always Love You" was ineligible for an Oscar because it was not a new song; it had been a hit for Dolly first back in 1974. I do remember the trade ads Universal had for four of their hit (but not always critically acclaimed) films that year, in their ads "for your consideration" for Oscar voting as "Best Song" was "Sneakin' Around" (as well, no doubt as a courtesy to their stars, "Best Actor" for Reynolds and "Best Actress" for Dolly). I wish Dolly had written something really great for this film, I didn't care for "Sneakin' Around" and was not surprised it was never released as a single - or Oscar nominated.
