Did Sheriff Ed Earl Dodd ever pay Miss Mona for sex? It seemed that they had a ongoing casual relationship. Sex from Mona may have been compensation for protection by law enforcement. Most cops hate to pay for anything. And they are usually horrible tippers. There are certain perks of a career in law enforcement. Free sex with a woman who looks like Dolly Parton blows away free coffee and doughnuts.

Ed Earl may have been in a casual relationship with Mona. But he seemed to have more interest in Dulcie Mae. That is one of the problems about being a prostitute or even a former prostitute. Society does not respect prostitutes. I once heard something like "treat a prostitute like a princess and a princess like a prostitute". I know from personal experience that there is some truth in that. I dated a self proclaimed "good time girl". I always treated her like a lady and she absolutely ate it up.

I think you need to watch it again. His relationship with Dulcie was more a beard for his REAL relationship with Mona. Considering at one point Mona says she's loved Earl since she was 16.. I would wager their relationship may go back to before either of them were in their respective jobs.

I've never in my life heard of a cop paying for coffee, doughnuts, or hookers.
