Yeah, he falls into it.
If you step into quicksand, you'll be okay if you don't move. You need to lean back like you're trying to float and you'll eventually pop up.
Or so I've read. Can anyone verify?

Well, this sucks.
Wouldn't like to test that theory!!
shareYes indeed. Quicksand is not as dangerous as people would believe:
"Quicksand is not as dangerous as depicted in many movies and TV shows. As quicksand is rarely more than a few feet deep, there is usually little danger of sinking below the surface. Even when the quicksand is deep enough, deliberate effort is required to sink below the surface. Quicksand is typically denser than the human body, meaning that a body is much more buoyant in quicksand than in water. Thus, the body will float quite easily in quicksand."

Watch the Mythbuster's episode on quicksand. They ruled that killer quicksand was busted.
""Killer Quicksand" like in the movies (i.e. quicksand that slowly sucks any person or animal unlucky enough to fall into it under) really exists."
"Quicksand is denser than water; the greater the density of the liquid, the greater the buoyancy of objects within. Adam and Jamie got into the tub of quicksand and were entirely safe, floating with the quicksand about waist-high. They concluded that any victims found in quicksand likely died for some other reason (i.e. exposure to the elements)."
