Why does Marc Singer resemble Kevin Bacon so much?

Or is it the other way around? All I know is that Marc Singer and Kevin Bacon look strongly resemble each other. They look alike and they even talk alike. Listen to their voices. Does anyone else think this as well?

"60 takes, I didn't see a difference in one of them man."

That's so true. WOW. LMAO.... maybe that's Kevin Bacon's father. Who knows?

reply

I don't see it.

However I have an idea as to why you may see it. Kevin Bacon was in Footloose with Marcs' sister Lori. Maybe you see the simularity due to the young Kevin from Footloose.

I don't think they look alike, but they do sound and act alike. When Footloose came out, I wondered if poor Lori Singer had a hard time kissing Kevin because he was so much like her brother Marc.

I was watching "The Gift" with Cate Blanchett a while back and we thought Marc Singer was in it but it was actually Gary Cole (Lumbergh). Anyone else see the resemblance?

This is the first time I’ve seen this movie since I was a kid and I couldn’t help but think the same thing. The two actors resemble each other to a remarkable degree.

First of all, the title of this thread is backwards. It should be, "Why does Kevin Bacon resemble Marc Singer so much?"

It's simple, really. Let's go back and take a look.

In 1980, Kevin was relatively a newcomer on the movie scene and, thus, was subject to taking an arrow through the throat in "Friday the 13th."

Two years later, he landed a role among some quite respected talent in the somewhat popular "Diner." However, he lost out to Mickey Rourke for the infamous popcorn scene, but, that same year, The Beastmaster was unleashed and Kevin was changed forever.

Knowing that Marc's prowess with animal ESP, eagle calling, swordplay, and ability to survive an ass-whipping by Tanya Roberts, Kevin decided to go a few steps further. He would drive a VW Bug, listen to Quiet Riot, play chicken in a tractor, drink beers while smoking cigarettes while performing gymnastic stunts while dancing like a super Cracker, then act ultracool to prompt Marc's sister to say, "Do you want to kiss me?"

And Kevin Bacon as action hero was born. Thanks to Marc Singer.

Three years after that, Kevin was being a royal A-hole to, and eventually being bested by, Sean(Rudy, Samwise Gamgee)Astin, in "White Water Summer," a real outdoorsy, action/adventure romp that proves that oars make great weapons.

But then, three years later, in 1990, he starred alongside the great great Fred Ward in "Tremors." And the last thing I'm going to do is cross Remo Williams.

So, in other words, yeah, I guess Marc and Kevin kind of look alike.
